Mountain Art Guitars is a small Australian luthier workshop handcrafting acoustic, classical, and flamenco guitars in the Blue Mountains, west of Sydney.
The workshop specialises in one-off custom instruments built from hand-selected tonewoods, often combining native Australian species with traditional exotics. Each guitar is designed with a focus on responsivity, resonance, visual character and built with well balanced volume, clarity and tone.
Mountain Art Guitars also offers immersive guitar-making courses, guiding students through the complete process of building their own instrument from raw timber. These hands-on courses cover essential techniques including joinery, bracing, voicing, and finishing.
In addition, Mountain Art Guitars provides professional repair and setup services, from routine adjustments to complex restorations and bespoke modifications. Mountain Art Guitars is run by luthier and educator Tim Bakas, based in Hazelbrook in the Blue Mountains region of New South Wales.
